The Ju88 was the most versatile German fighter of World War II. With the Ju 88A-1, series production began in 1939. From early August 1940, attacks on the British mainland followed. On 15 August, English tactics changed and Luftwaffe successes dwindled until the tide turned for good on 15 September.
